Kennel Cough

January 29, 2024

Update: We feel confident that with several days of cleaning, our daycare will be open to all to come and play in a healthy environment. We will always monitor each pup as they come in, and communicate with you when we feel necessary.

Kennel Cough can affect everyone and pup differently, so if you have any questions, please reach out to our team, or your local vet.

We thank you for understanding.

At this time, we are experiencing an outbreak of kennel cough and the respiratory virus that has been going around HRM for the past few months. We are seeing these cases for the first time this year at our daycare, and we are working hard to keep the daycare clean, and monitoring the pups as they come in.

As we are in the initial stages of seeing this virus, and we ask that everyone keep an eye and ear out for signs of coughing, sneezing, runny nose, and runny eyes. Any pup coming into daycare with these systems will be keep away from our playful pack and asked to go home to rest and get better.

We will be continuing our cleaning efforts throughout the day, and every day, as we always do. Our water buckets are changed and cleaned frequently throughout the day so every pup get’s fresh clean water.

The Bordetella vaccine covers some strains of viruses, but just like the flu vaccine we take, it does not cover every strain. If your pup is vaccinated, it can still catch some strains of the flu and cold viruses.

If your pup is showing symptoms of having a virus, keep them comfortable at home. Plain Greek yogurt, honey and cinnamon to top, will help sooth their throats.

We thank you for understanding, and if you have any questions, please reach out any time, or contact your local vet.

Thanks, the team at Playful Pups
